Dr. Godwin Grima B.A.(Rel. Stud.), LL.D.,
LTCL Permanent Secretary (Office of the Prime Minister)
Dr. Godwin Grima was
born in B'Kara on 29 April 1955. He was educated at
St. Aloysius` College. On 13 January 1978 he received the Diploma NP from the University of Malta and the following year he graduated as Doctor of
Laws.
On the 23 July 1979 Dr Grima was appointed Notary to Government and
appointed Assistant Land Registrar, a new post, on 19 August 1985.
On 2 September 1993 he obtained a Diploma in Principles of Modern
Management and on 22 November 1993 he was appointed Director Land Registry. He was also
appointed Custodian of Enemy Property.
Dr Grima graduated B.A.
(Rel. Stud.) at the University of Malta on 22 November, 1997.
He was appointed
Director General, Land & Public Registry Division on 13 July 1999 and on the same day he also assumed the post of
A/Director Joint Office.
Dr Grima was, over the
years, involved in a number of voluntary organisations. On a national
level, he served as General Secretary of the Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija
and was later President of the FORUM Għaqdiet u Movimenti Kattoliċi
from 1998 to 2002. He also served for 10 years and 3 years respectively
as Board member of RTK and of the Media Centre. For a number of years,
Dr. Grima presented a number of religious programmes on radio.
He withdrew his
involvement in the Church media on being appointed Permanent Secretary
on the 8th January 2002.
Prior to being
appointed Permanent Secretary (OPM), Dr Grima served as Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs.
Dr Grima is also Deputy
Chairperson of the National Family Commission.
He is married to Doris nee` Schembri and father of three. The family
fosters three other children.
