Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarships in Italy 2008/2009 The Italian Government is offering a number of long-term scholarships for graduate/postgraduate studies in specialisation courses or research, during academic year 2008/2009. Suitably qualified candidates should not be less than 18 and not more than 35 years of age. It is essential that candidates first obtain the necessary information, regarding their chosen field of study, and confirm their qualifications at the Italian Cultural Institute before submitting their application. Prior to identifying a university/course of studies in Italy, students are advised to consult the Registrar’s Office at the University of Malta as regards the equivalence of the eventual degree obtained. Application Forms are available from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valletta or the Ministry’s Website (www.foreign.gov.mt) or from the Information Section, Banca Giuritale, Victoria, Gozo. Applications should be SUBMITTED IN DUPLICATE by not later than noon of Monday, 28th April 2008 as indicated below:- (i) One copy to the Italian Cultural Institute, St. George’s Square, Valletta Mondays to Thursdays from: 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Fridays (mornings only) 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. (ii) One copy to the Scholarships Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valletta

to Fridays from: 8.30 a.m. to noon The application forms should be supplemented by the following necessary documents:- Letters of Recommendation by at least two academic authorities and/or letter of recommendation by Head of Department (if a government employee) Copy of degree and transcript (for specialisation courses) Transcript of all ‘O’ and ‘A’ level certificates held (to be issued by University of Malta) (for all applicants) Successful candidates may be required to enter into a contract to serve the Government or the Private Sector of Malta upon completion. Applications from Government and Parastatal employees and from the Private Sector will not be considered unless recommended by their Head of Department/Employer respectively.
