Mr Naceur Mestiri, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia TO
MALTA
Mr Naceur Mestiri was born on the 1st May 1955 in Sousse and
in 1979 graduated in Journalism, Information Sciences and Political
Science. Between 1982 and 1983 he worked as administrator in the General
Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Information.
In June 1983 he was appointed Secretary for Foreign Affairs within the
Foreign Affairs Ministry and was in charge of the dossier of the United
Nations Specialised Institutions in the Department of Multilateral
Cooperation.
In
July 1994, Mr Mestiri was appointed Head of the Division responsible for
Central and Eastern European Countries within the General Department of
Europe, and in August that same year Counsellor for Foreign Affairs.
In
September 1996, he was posted to the Tunisian Embassy in Rome where he
served as Deputy Head of Mission and Economic Counsellor. In September
2003 he was appointed Deputy Director for Political and Economic Affairs
and Cooperation with France, Italy, Germany and Austria, and in August
2003 was promoted to the rank of Plenipotentiary Minister.
