The Prime
Minister, the Hon Lawrence Gonzi,
visits VISET and meets the Maltese
medical and assistance teams during
the arrival of over 1800 evacuees on
board the SNAV Toscana
The Prime
Minister, the Hon Lawrence Gonzi, visits the call centre
at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs where the
co-ordination exercise for the Maltese in Libya is being
organised. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign Affairs, the Hon Tonio Borg, was present.
The Prime
Minister, the Hon Lawrence Gonzi, visits the
Government's Crisis Co-Ordination Centre where the
Maltese Government's logistical and humanitarian
response to the crisis in Libya is being co-ordinated.
The M/V Snav Toscana arrived at Valletta
Grand Harbour this morning, carrying
about 1749 evacuees from Tripoli,
Libya. These included 857
Vietnamese, 728 Thai, 83 Pakistani,
22 Ethiopians, 20 Philippines, 11
Chinese, 10 Egyptians, 8 Brazilians,
4 Syrians, 2 from Sri Lanka, 1 from
South Africa, Morocco, Mauritius and
Mauritania respectively. These
evacuees will be flying out of Malta
in the coming hours using chartered
flights
