DR. GEORGE HYZLER, Dip. I.C.E.I.(Amsd.), LL.D., M.P.

 

Dr George Hyzler was born in Qormi in 1956, son of Dr George John Hyzler and Elvira née Bonnici. He undertook his secondary school education at St Aloysius College. In 1978 he obtained a Diploma of Notary Public and a year later a Doctorate of Laws from the University of Malta. In 1980 he studied at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands obtaining a diploma in European Business Law. Dr Hyzler was president of the Students Representative Council, member of the University Council and Faculty Board of Law, vice-President of the Chamber of Advocates and Chairman of the Committee for Advocates.

He was also director of Malta International Airport plc and of various limited liability companies.

Dr Hyzler is a member of the Executive Council of the Nationalist Party.

First elected to the House of Representatives in a bye election in 1995, he retained his seat in the 1996 and 1998 General Elections.

Following the Nationalist Party victory in September 1998, Dr Hyzler was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affairs.

Dr Hyzler is married to Rebecca née Borg and they have four children, Paul, Mark, Chiara and Anabel.
